Jenna Vergeynst

Jenna Vergeynst

Jenna Vergeynst (1992) is a Belgian harpist and bio-engineer. She holds a Masters’ degree in harp at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, where she studied with Miriam Overlach, and a PhD in bio-engineering. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Covestro Symphoniker, Cordae Lysis, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, Continuo, Jemoo, Camerata Con Corde and with several vocal ensembles. She is founding member of the chamber music ensembles Trio Escalda, harpduo Vireo, and of the cocreation collective Cusk, and plays violin in tango quintet Tanguera. Her main focus is contemporary music, including repertoire such as Schafer’s The Crown of Ariadne, Berio’s Sequenza II, Maierhof’s Splitting 9, Saariaho’s Fall and Aperghis’ Fidélité. In 2015, she was selected for the International Harp Contest in Israel and in 2019 for the USA International Harp Competition. In 2023, she won a first prize in the Collegium21 competition in Paris, as well as the prize Marius Constant and a special prize for the interpretation of Aperghis’ Fidélité.

Alejandro López Cordero

The Spanish flutist Alejandro López Cordero was born in Cáceres, where he started studying music and flute at the age of 9. He has studied his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp with professor Aldo Baerten, in the University of Music and Drama of Vienna with professor Walter Auer and in the Royal Conservatoire of Granada with Tatiana Franco and Javier Castiblanque.

He has been an academist at the Belgian National Orchestra, La Monnaie/De Munt Brussels Opera, and the Orchestra of the Balear Islands. He was trained in youth orchestral programs like Youth Orchestra of Extremadura, Orchestral Academy of Málaga, Youth Orchestra of Córdoba, and Southern Spain Youth Orchestra.

 Passionate about chamber music and orchestra, he is now working as a freelancer with different ensembles like Trio Escalda and Trio Adarves, and in orchestras, for instance as a solo flute at Gaos Orchestra and as a collaborator in the Orchestra of Extremadura. He combines his freelance career with private teaching and studies in new music technologies and production.

Paloma Pérez García

Paloma Pérez García

The Spanish violist Paloma Pérez García was born in Huelva where she began her musical career at a young age. She finished her bachelor and master studies in 2022, with Professor Leo de Neve.

She is currently collaborating with different professional orchestras and ensembles; with Orquesta de Extremadura in Spain; and with Frascati Symphonic, Orchestre La Passione, and Antwerp String Ensemble in Belgium where she resides. For the season 2023-2024 she is joining Sinfonieorchester Aachen after winning the position of academist.

During her career she has played in many international orchestras around Europe, pointing out Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, conducted in 2022 by Teodor Currentzis, Nationaal Jeugd Orkest, where she played as co-principal, Youth Orchestra Flanders, Antwerps Jeugdorkest, Young Belgian Strings, Neue Philarmonie München, and Orquesta Joven de Andalucía. She was always passionate about historically informed playing, this path led her to record Haydn cello concertos with Raphaël Pidoux and Jeune Orchestre de L’Abbaye, which specializes in historical playing.

Since 2020 she is co-founder of Trío Escalda, which fulfils her desire to perform the beautiful chamber music pieces written for flute viola and harp.
